Neuromodulators

What are neuromodulators?

Botox (botulinum toxin type A) is a neuromodulator. BOTOX is a brand of neurotoxin along with others available- Dysport, Xeomin. Using fine needles, it is injected into targeted muscle areas. This blocks the signal to the muscle temporarily weakening it. This reduces fine lines and wrinkles caused by muscle movement. Care is taken to tailor injections to your face to reduce movement but not eliminate it, allowing for ongoing natural expression.

What can they treat?

  • Frown lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Crows feet
  • Nasal lines
  • Lift/balance eyebrows
  • Relax downward pull on corners of the mouth
  • Lip lines
  • Gummy smile
  • Chin contractions
  • Slimming the face/jaw
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of underarms, hands and feet)
  • TMJ/jaw pain caused by clenching/grinding

Before neuromodulators

  • Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or hair removal creams.
  • Avoid over the counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen and Aleve that thin the blood.
  • Avoid herbal supplements such as Garlic,Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort and Omega-3 capsules.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol 24 hours before or after your treatment to avoid extra bruising.
  • Avoid if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have any neurological disorders.

After neurmodulators

  • Move treated muscles  after treatment to help product work into  the muscle.
  • Avoid laying down or exercising for 4 hours following  treatment.
  • You may gently apply an ice or cold gel  pack to reduce swelling and potential bruising.
  • Avoid rubbing the area following treatment.
  • Avoid extended UV exposure the day of  treatment.
  • Wait at least  24 hours before receiving any skincare or laser treatments.

How long does it last?

You may see effects within a few days with maximum effect by 2 weeks. Results typically last 3-4 months. Keeping up with treatment every 3-4 months will  maintain  progressive weakness in the muscles. Irregular treatment will allow muscles to re-strengthen lessening the overal efficiacy of trreatment.

Dermal Filler

What is filler?

Temporary fillers are a gel like substance made from hyaluronic acid. This is a naturally occurring substance already found in your skin which gives it volume. In a minimally invasive procedure, it is injected into targeted areas of the face to create or restore volume. Dermal fillers can create a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance, enhance certain features and correct certain signs of aging.  They can smooth lines, soften creases, enhance facial contour and plump lips.
